This page seeks to provide South African journalists
with a cross section of resources that may be of use:
The European Commission provides extensive information
to journalists through its official website.
Press
Releases, an
Audiovisual Library
and
the
Europe by
Satellite
facility can be all accessed with ease.
EU for Journalists is a site that
not only contains up-to-date news, but also provides background details and
essential information about the European Union – the main actors,
institutions and organisations. It deliberately tries to avoid the
institutional hierarchy of the EU, and has been designed to be as
jargon-free as possible. This compact but comprehensive site has been
designed as a user-friendly tool for journalists navigating their way
around the institutions, researching stories, and tracking down
sources for quotes and further information.
The
European Journalism Centre
is an independent, international, non-profit institute dedicated to
the highest standards in journalism, primarily through the further
training of journalists and media professionals. Building on its
extensive international network, the Centre operates as a facilitator
and partner in a wide variety of training projects.
Journalists at
Your Service provides professional advice, assistance and a wide range of services
to journalists visiting or working in Brussels. It is conveniently
situated in the heart of the 'European Quarter' next door to the
European Council and within walking distance of the European
Parliament, the European Commission's Press Centre and most of the
European Commission's offices.
The
European Institute for the Media
presents itself as an internationally acknowledged independent centre
of excellence for the impact of media and communication technology on
society.
The
European Federation of Journalists, is a regional
organisation of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). It
is Europe’s largest organisation of journalists, representing about
280.000 journalists in over thirty countries.
