To celebrate International Women's Day (8
March 2008), the Delegation of the European Commission to SA announced a
2nd international drawing competition under the
theme Gender Equality.
The competition was open to all
school-going children from ages 8-10. The deadline
for the competition was 1st May, 2008. For more information, click

to know more about the European Union? And like young people throughout
the world you are faced with challenges including employment, careers,

Teens:
good place to start if
you fall within the teen category (10 -14 years of age) is the
EuropaGo site – it will give
you access to interactive and educational games on Europe and the
European Union.
Youth Portal:
For a wide range of
European youth oriented sites and information refer to the

includes a link back to South Africa’s

website.
Students:
There are a number of opportunities for post graduate students. The
Erasmus Mundus
Programme
(2004-2008) provides EU-funded scholarships for third country nationals
participating in specific European postgraduate programmes, as well as
scholarships for EU nationals studying in third countries. Also, the
site of the
European University Institute may be of interest.
October 2008: The European Commission has launched a new web portal
called "Study in Europe" to promote the attractiveness of European
Higher Education to students from other parts of the world. The portal,
at www.study-in-europe.org,
is part of a wide-ranging campaign to increase the number of students
from outside Europe who study in the EU. "Study in Europe" provides
clear and up-to-date information about the range of courses on offer in
European higher education institutions, admission procedures, costs,
scholarships and the higher education environment in Europe.
